The aim of this section is to share news of national and international blues new releases. In fact they are the CDs that are on air on La Hora Del Blues each month and they can also be found on the “playlist”. These reviews are renewed monthly and stay three months on line.
You will find here a “guideline” that summarizes the most outstanding features of each CD. This will allow people around the world to receive some knowledgeable information before buying new releases.
All previous reviews written since year 2000 (more than 6.000) are collected and filed at the “Previous Reviews” page.
Each CD is “classified” (always done from a subjective point of view as it is not our purpose to give lessons or pontificate) as well as giving it’s website or contact address or e-mail.
“La Hora del Blues” is a blues radio show whose sole purpose is to make blues well known all over the world through radio waves here in Barcelona and through the internet. We hope that everyone can enjoy this wonderful music that is the gift the Afroamerican people have given to the human race, and especially to all of us that by and through the blues see a way to express our feelings. If musicians, bands, labels, record companies, distributors, fans and blues lovers all over the world can enjoy and be helped in any way by these pages, my dream will have been realized. Nacido en Savannah, Georgia, la vida de Willie Jackson ha estado siempre ligada a la música desde el momento en que empezó cantar y a tocar la batería siendo muy joven en el coro de la iglesia local. Pronto descubrió que tenía una gran facilidad para la composición, cosa que hacía durante los ratos libres de que disfrutaba al acabar su trabajo diario y que le permitían mantener a su familia.
Debido a un terrible accidente ocurrido en 2009, Jackson tuvo que dejar de trabajar por lo que pudo centrarse en la música, componiendo canciones y aprendiendo a tocar el bajo. Actualmente Willie actúa regularmente con su banda por la zona de Georgia y Carolina del Sur.
En este trabajo Willie Jackson nos presenta doce canciones de su propia autoría en las que, además de cantar, ha realizado todos los arreglos, en las que combina con acierto y frescura elementos del blues tradicional y del Southern soul, mezclados con unos sonidos más contemporáneos y atrevidos, además de unas letras muy bien trabajadas y elaboradas y con las que la mayoría de los que le escuchan podrán fácilmente sentirse identificados.
Sin duda la cálida y profunda voz de Willie Jackson trasladará al oyente a esos maravillosos y singularmente bellos paisajes de Georgia llenos de música y en los que los bosques, lagos y campos con grandes extensiones de cereales y vides parecen no tener fin. MUY BUENO.
Born in Savannah, Georgia, Willie Jackson’s life has always been linked to music, since the moment that, at a very young age, he began singing and playing drums at the local church choir. He soon discovered he was an able composer, something he used to do at free time after his daily hard work which enabled him to support his family.
Due to a terrible accident he suffered in 2009, Jackson had to stop working, which enabled him to focus on music, composing more songs and learning to play bass. Now Willie regularly performs with his band all over Georgia and South Carolina areas.
Willie Jackson presents a recording with twelve own compositions where, besides singing, he has done all the arrangements, successfully combining elements of traditional blues and southern soul, together with more contemporary daring sounds, as well as clever well developed lyrics where, those who come to listen to him will easily feel identified with them.
Willie Jackson’s warm and deep voice will certainly drive listeners to those wonderful and especially Georgia beautiful landscapes full of music where forests, lakes and immense cereals and vines fields seem to have no end. VERY GOOD.
